"Before I could explain to Jade what happened to Rahim, Rais's men attacked Zere's truck. God, I hope it's not retaliation for the school." Quest introduction
|
The Pit is the sixth story quest available in Dying Light.[1]
Objectives[]
- Defend Dr. Zere and his lab
- Find Dr. Zere
- Rais's men kidnapped Zere, raided his truck, and took all his gear. I just hope they didn't take all his research as well.
- Rescue Zere
- Check the back of The Garrison for another entrance
- Climb to the roof
- Find the entrance into the building
- Look for Dr. Zere
- I found Zere, but before I could get him out of there, Rais ambushed us. I'm not sure what Rais has planned for us, but whatever it is, I'm sure it's not gonna be pleasent.
- Survive the Arena
- Pick up the machete
- Kill the Demolisher
- Take the medkit
- Escape from Rais's Garrison
- I found a way out of the Arena. Now I gotta haul ass back to Brecken. But Zere... He didn't make it. He said he gave his research to Jade before Rais grabbed him. So there might still be a shred of hope for a cure.
- Report to Brecken
- I was trying to get to the Tower, but I must have passed out on the way...
- Take your stuff from the bag
Walkthrough[]
With Rahim having died, Crane goes to Brecken to bring him the bad news. While the two talk, a loud explosion comes from Dr. Zere's safe zone. Brecken sends out Crane to rescue Zere. Arrive at the safe zone to see that Rais's Bandits have taken over the place. Kill them and look for Zere. Upon arriving at Zere's trailer, Maalik is found badly injured. He informs Crane that Rais's men took Zere and drove off. Contact Brecken to give the bad news. Brecken will send Crane out to Rais's Garrison, as some of Rais's Bandits were seen headed that way.
Arrive at the garrison to find the place shut down, with the doors sealed. Make your way to the back of the building and climb to the roof in order to find a way inside. Keep in mind that the roof is home to several of Rais's Bandits, so take them out in order to progress safely. A latch in one of the buildings atop the roof will lead inside.
Once inside, Crane attempts to contact the GRE, only to find out they have been overtaken by the Ministry of Defense. Crane persuades them to reconsider carpet-bombing the city, as Zere is working on a cure. The Ministry hesitates, but agrees to give Crane 48 hours before they bomb the place. After this conversation, head towards the elevator. The system is down, so the doors will have to be pried open and a manual descent must be performed. Be mindful, as on the lower floors several of Rais's Bandits can be found.
Zere is nowhere to be found, so Crane contacts Brecken, who recommends checking the lower parking garage. Make your way over there, and be sure to check the rooms. Two Police Rifles, a German 9mm pistol, as well as a box of rifle, and three boxes of pistol ammo can be found in one of the rooms. Within the parking garage, numerous of Rais's Bandits are located, all of them armed with military or police rifles. Dispatch them in order to proceed further to Zere. Be sure to check around in the openside passage of the garage as well, since another three boxes with rifle ammo can be found. At the end of the garage, one of Rais's men breaks down a door to a side passage, which leads to Zere. Take him away from his prison, only to see the lights go out. Rais had taken away Zere to lure Crane into a trap, and now, with Crane surrounded, he takes him to his private arena - the Pit, confiscating all his belongings first. After a short conversation, Rais knocks out Crane. When he awakens there is a large crowd present above the Pit and the challenge begins.
There are several large containers, each holding a considerable number of infected inside. Firecrackers, throwing stars, and pipes can be found across the arena to serve as weapons. There are also several different spike traps and gas cannisters.
"Word of your feats here will spread. Such a shame you'll be a corpse by then. Is this your first feeble attempt at controlling your own destiny, Crane? Too little, too late, I fear. Impressive. For a walking dead man." Rais
|
After clearing out the infected, Rais drops a machete. Pick it up to progress. Rais unleashes another container - this time holding a demolisher instead of infected. It is advised to make the demolisher run into the flaming barrels and then hit him with the melee weapons while he is stunned in order to deal with him. Be careful, as upon his defeat a horde of virals is set loose. After defeating the virals, it becomes clear that Crane is in need of some Antizin, as he gets a seizure.
"You have provided some quality entertainment for my men. Too bad it's a one-time performance. This will only prolong the inevitable. But try to make the best of it. Let no one say I never gave you anything, Crane." Rais
|
After coming out victorious in the pit, Rais drops a medkit. Take it. Rais will come down and confront Crane, publishing the file and releasing its contents to the world. He orders his men to kill Crane, but Crane takes up his dropped machete and kills them instead, cutting off Rais's hand and shooting the guards left at Zere with Rais's pistol. He makes his way up to Zere, only to find out he's been stabbed and on the verge of death. Just as he dies, Rais orders his men to shoot Crane, and Crane has to run for his life to get out of the pit, being shot by Rais's men along the way.
Upon escaping the arena, another seizure as a result of the virus strikes Crane, which keeps occuring frequently while he tries to make his way to safety. Eventually Crane passes out and wakes up at a small part of what used to be Ferry Station, which has now been largely overrun by the infected.
"Uh... thank him for me." Kyle Crane
