Power to the People

"Believers! We know that the electricity shortage is taking its toll on our community. But you should not try to fix it on your own. It's dangerous. Avoid the power plant at all costs until we figure out a way to take care of the problem."

Power to the people is a side quest available in Dying Light: The Following.^[1]

Walkthrough[]

The lights in Bilal's Safe Zone start to flicker. Go to Bilal and talk to him. Bilal will ask Crane to look for a new insulator, as he doesn't trust the claims of Ali that the old ones will hold when the power is turned back on. Head for the highway and look for the insulators.

There is a large, red, electrical post. Climb up onto it. The insulators are located at the end of each protrusion, get one of the insulators off, recover it, and head for Ali at the power plant in the far southwest of the map.

Faceless

Upon arrival at the plant, the place is overrun with infected. Enter the plant grounds themselves to find Ali. He is safe, one of the Faceless is standing near him with incense which causes a blue mist and calms the infected. Ali states that the transfer switch needs to be activated again, so head inside the dam.

Once inside, head downstairs and through the door to be greeted by a demolisher who throws a slab of conrete at the door, breaking it. Kill it, throw the switch and inform Ali only to find out it was the wrong switch. Head down through the hole in the ground and look for the main switch there, Ali will make contact again. Throw the switch and jump down to the lower level, head underneath the metal floor plates and go upwards again, be careful as several infected have made their home here.

From here, two large pipes are found. One to the north, closed, and one to the south, open. The southern one leads to more infected and the Flower Bomb Paint Job, whereas the northern one is needed to advance the quest. Open the gate and follow the pipe to a ladder. Additionally, the passage with the infected also has a locked gate leading to the northern pipe which can be used instead. While going through the tunnel, Ali will contact Crane again and inform him that the Faceless remained outside instead of entering the shack as well. Leave the dam and climb up to look for Ali. Kill the infected blocking the way and find the Faceless deceased.

Speak to Ali again, he was almost done with resetting the power and just needed to flip some switches, so go with him and serve as his bodyguard while he does so. Be mindful as numerous virals will attack while Ali is busy, so having a firearm like the Semi-Automatic Shotgun is advisable to quickly deal with them. When Ali is done, any approaching virals will be killed by the electricity and a Safe Zone is unlocked. Speak to Ali again to complete the quest.
