During the questGoing Postal, Kyle Crane discovers a letter to Polat while searching a van outside the post office and has the choice of delivering the letter. Upon receiving it, Polat reveals that he cannot read; his wife previously read for him, but she is no longer with Polat so he asks Crane to read the letter for him:
Polat, you damned son of a bitch! Don't you even think about dying out there! If I find out you were killed by a zombie, I'll fucking haunt you in the afterlife. Your ass is mine. Love, Talo.
Polat explains that Talo is his brother, and they have now been estranged for months. He thanks Kyle for delivering the message, and wonders out loud whether his brother might still be alive.
Crane:"Excuse me..." Polat:"I don't know anything." Crane:"Could you tell me where to find someone who does know something?" Polat:"Look for Jasir. He'll be inside the barn."
Crane:"Hey — Polat? I I found a letter addressed to you in the post office..." Polat:"Holy shit, really? Thank you! Wonder what it's about! ... Uhm, I hate to ask, but... I can't read. My wife always read this stuff for me, but now that she's gone... would you mind...?" Crane:"Oh. Yeah, no problem. Okay, let's see... You sure you want me to read this? I mean, it's a personal letter..." Polat:"Yes, please!" Crane:"Okay, so... "Polat, you damned son of a bitch! Don't you even think about dying out there! If I find out you were killed by a zombie, I'll fucking haunt you in the afterlife. Your ass is mine. Love, Talo."" Polat:"Hahahah! Oh, damn, I miss that man!" Crane:"... Pardon?" Polat:"Talo! That's my brother! Haven't seen him for months now... Wonder if he's still alive! Thank you so much for bringing me this!"
Crane:"The hell? You're not Volkan Dal!" Polat:"...Was I supposed to be?" Crane:"Where did you get those boots?" Polat:"Hey, he didn't need them anymore! Lay off!" Crane:"Did you kill him? Where is he?!" Polat:"Hey! He turned! I killed a MONSTER, not a human!" Crane:"Shit. Where?" Polat:"Shot him straight through the head." Crane:"No, you idiot. Where... is his body?" Polat:"Oh... not far from here. Listen, I can pay you for these boots if they're so important to you, no problem..." Crane:"Just forget it."
Crane:"Hey, Polat. I'm thinking about heading to Ercan's farm." Polat:"You're crazy, mister. That's suicide." Crane:"Let me be the judge of that. Besides, the bandits might target this place next." Polat:"Let them fucking try! After what they did to that girl, there won't be no mercy." Crane:"If you feel that way... Why wait? Why not take revenge right now?" Polat:"Don't get all high-and-mighty with me, mister. We are angry – true, but we're not crazy. You want to get yourself killed?" Crane:"I think I can handle some thugs with guns. I heard you might be able to help me. Jasir said you worked at that farm." Polat:"Work there I did, true. If you really want to go there, follow the wall and go east of the entrance. There's a hole in that high wall. You could probably use it to sneak in."
