He is a member of the Saviors, a group of armed survivors smuggling clients in between the Old Town and the Slums. After making contact with Cenk in the Cauldron, Kyle Crane is directed to Hazan and his men in the sewers. Among his clients are Dawud Tolgan and his son Sammy, but Crane is warned against causing trouble.
Later, after Crane is allowed to pass and directed towards Old Town, Hazan reveals that the Saviors were forced to betray Crane to Kadir "Rais" Suleiman's gang. Crane is ambushed in the sewers, but manages to escape.
Hazan:"Crane?" Crane:"Yeah. that's me." Hazan:"Good to meet you. I'm Hazan. I'm going to be helping you change your scenery." Crane:"So did you take Jade through, too?" Hazan:"Who?" Crane:"She's from here. Dark hair. Pretty. Tough as nails." Hazan:"Maybe. Don't know. We don't always ask names."

— Hazan:"Okay, from here on out, you're on your own. The route is marked. I'll stay in touch over radio. It's been a pleasure, my friend."

While en route:
— Hazan:"We try to keep the route clear, but there may be some Infected here and there. Shouldn't be a problem for you, though."

While sliding down a large pipe:
— Hazan:"Hey, friend. Sorry, but I had no choice. Rais has me by the balls." Crane:"What?! Hey! What did you do?" Hazan:"What I had to... What can I say? The world is an unforgiving place..."
