The shotgun

Hellbeast is a craftable firearm available in the 5th Anniversary Bundle DLC for Dying Light. The weapon can't be found, however it can be crafted from the blueprints screen. No base weapon is needed, only the correct amount of Craft parts.

The Hellbeast is a craftable firearm and one of the few mods that do not require a base weapon to be crafted. When used, it creates a brand new shotgun out of the craft parts and it's useful in a pinch. If you need a shotgun in an emergency and are nowhere near a Safe Zone to perhaps purchase one or get one from your Stash, having a blueprint on hand to just craft one is very useful. The requirements for crafting it can be difficult, especially getting hold of the electronics required to get it, but once you do, it will be invaluable. The damage is not quite as high as a normal Double-Barrel Shotgun, but it makes up for it with a faster reload time, so you can push out shots faster. It's also somewhat cheaper than purchasing a shotgun from a Merchant, even if it does require some time out in Harran looting for the craft parts. Getting ammo for it will be tough in the early game for new players, as firearms are harder to come by until later in the story, but once you do get an ammo supply, it makes short work of Hostile Survivors or Rais' Men who have little defense against a shotgun blast. It's also good for taking out hordes of Biters or Virals.

It's also worthy of note that later in the game it can easily cross 1,000 damage per shot, meaning on normal difficulty if all pellets connect two clean shots can kill a Volatile. It's not recommended to depend on this however as being close enough to land clean hits on the volatile is close enough for the volatile to land clean hits on you.
