Cash, or Money, is the type of currency in Dying Light. Cash can be obtained through numerous sources, such as completing quests/missions, searching dead bodies, bags, or selling items. Once obtained, cash can then be used to make purchases at any Merchant.

Acquiring[]

  • Looting dead Infected will give small amounts of cash.
  • Looting bags is the best source of quick cash, giving several hundred dollars at a time.
  • Cash registers are a great source, providing you can find shops to loot.
  • Selling Weapons/Craft parts at merchants can net good cash, especially if they're limited time requests by the merchant, who will pay considerably more for that item than normal.
  • Valuable items, as the name suggests, will give large amounts of cash if sold in one go.
  • Completing survivor rescue missions (save a survivor from Rais' Gang, save a survivor from a couple of zombies, etc) will give small amounts of money as a possible reward.
  • Quests give large amounts of money.

Usage[]

Cash has one primary use, which is buying items from merchants. Since crafting weapons/items can be done from the blueprints screen and weapon repair is done via Metal parts, cash is not used for either of these. Its only use is to buy weapons, craft parts and, rarely, Blueprints from merchants. Many of these items are expensive, especially as their rarity increases, so a large amount of cash is needed to buy rare craft parts or high quality weapons from merchants.

Notes[]

  • A lot of prices from merchants are highly inflated, with weapons going into 4-5 digits for even a basic weapon. This is likely for balancing as otherwise high quality items could be stockpiled.
  • Like in a real zombie apocalypse, cash is relatively useless, hence why its use in Dying Light is minimal.
